It’s that time of year where all the fall decorating begins! It just wouldn’t be fall without going to a few pumpkin patches, searching high and low to find the best pumpkins possible to display on your front porch. There are so many great local pumpkin patches within just a half hour drive from Brantford. It’s the perfect family outing for a Saturday! We know it can be a bit of a challenge to try and find a pumpkin patch, especially if you’re looking for more than just pumpkin picking. Which is why we’ve put together a list of our favourite pumpkin patches within the area. All of them are so great and offer a unique experience in their own way!
1. Brantwood Farms
Brantwood Farms not only offers pumpkin picking but also a complete fall festival! The fall festival runs every weekend in September and October. However, we are just starting to see the pumpkins come out now. The hours of the fall festival are from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and the last entry is at 4:00 pm.
You can walk through the apple orchard, the pumpkin patch and pick your own pumpkin, however, we suggest bringing a wagon (they have them there for you to use). There are so many activities for the kids including food stands, pumpkin painting, pillow bounce, pumpkin bounce, farm animals, corn maze, slides, and so much more! Make sure to stop by the farm store on your way out for fresh baked goods and fresh produce! There is an admission fee which is $15 for anyone ages 23 months and up. Admission includes everything except pony rides and train rides, as well as the cost to pick your own pumpkins and apples.
2. Merry Farms
Merry Farms is located just outside Brantford and just inside the outskirts of Hamilton on Concession Road 2, just off of Lynden Road. It is a beautiful fall drive out to Merry farms! A perfect place for pumpkin picking as you can explore their beautiful 176 acre pumpkin patch and Christmas tree farm. Take a wagon ride around the farm and see everything! Merry Farms hosts pumpkinfest starting October 1 and will be open weekends until October 23 (including Thanksgiving Monday). There is a general admission fee of $17.99 per person.
There are also plenty of activities for the kids to do here as well! Including a corn maze, 65’ long jumping pumpkin pillow, slides, pedal kart race track, pumpkin bowling, kiddie roller coasters, playground, and so much more! Pumpkins are extra and are priced based on size, which they typically vary from $2-$20. Please note that they ask to refrain from bringing pets to Pumpkinfest at this time.
3. Snyder’s Family Farm
Snyder’s Family Farm is located just north of Brantford in Bright. Another great opportunity for a beautiful fall drive through the countryside on back roads full of the fall colours. Located just off Highway 8 and easily accessible from the Brantford area, Synder’s Family Farm hosts a variety of different activities through their fall farm ticket. Plenty of stuff for the kids to do including a petting zoo, jumping pillow, jump pad, peddle kart track, hay ride, corn maze, pirate play ships and more! If you’re not looking for a fall ticket, you can still access the pumpkin patch!
The fall farm ticket is $18.99 per person and can be purchased online in advance. We suggest making sure as on nice weekends it can sell out quickly. Children under 2 are free and do not need a ticket. They also have noted that no dogs are allowed, except service dogs. If you’re looking to warm up a bit, they also offer fall campfire sessions which include a hot dog roasting kit, s’mores roasting kit, fire is pre-lit prior to your arrival, and your own private area. There is food and spirits available on site for additional purchase as well. Campfires are for 1 hour and additional time can be purchased.
October is the perfect time to get out, go for a drive, and explore so many great local farms! All of the above listed offer so much to do, of course, we think some of the best pumpkin patches in the area. Grab the family, load up the car, and get outside to enjoy some of the amazing fall weather. If you have any questions about which pumpkin patch you think you should visit, get in touch with us and we would be more than happy to help!
